What is A WeMo Switch?
So, what is it exactly? The WeMo switch is a electronic hub that plugs into any outlet, turning the outlet into a WiFi connected outlet that can be controlled from anywhere in the world. Once the Android or iPhone app is installed on your phone, you can control any electronic item that is plugged into that specific outlet.
How do I use it? Two words: air conditioning.
If you have a window air conditioner, you HAVE to buy a WeMo remote control switch. That’s not a suggestion. Why? Because once you do, your life will never be the same. Nothing is more refreshing than coming home from work on a hot sunny summer day into a nice and cool apartment. Using this remote control, you can power on or off your air conditioner at any time. Better yet, you can set up a schedule of when you’d like your air conditoner to turn on or off. Therefore, if you get home from work at 6:30pm, simply set your air conditioner to turn on at 6:00pm and you’ll be walking into heaven instead of the gates of hell.
Sure, you could just buy an old fashioned timer, but c’mon for a few extra bucks you get so much more bang for your buck! For example, what happens when you leave work early one day. Oops, air conditioner didn’t turn on yet because you’re home at 6:00pm and not 6:30pm. With the WeMo switch, you can simply turn on your air conditioner from your phone at any time and you’re not restricted to a pre-determined schedule. In other words, the conventional timer falls short whenever there is a deviation in your schedule. Perhaps you’re on a great coffee date and she suggests heading back to your place. Oh snap it’s on! But wait, it’s going to be hot and stuffy in my place… unless I conveniently turn on the air conditioner from my phone as we’re heading home. Score!
